PART 1: Ben Duncombe on the ANZ Salesforce Manager Survey 2022: Insights

In this week's episode, we cover the results of Talent Hub's annual ANZ Salesforce Survey, of which Part 1 focuses on the results from Salesforce managers, followed by next week, where we bring you insights from Salesforce professionals.

 

 You can download your copy of the ANZ Salesforce Market Survey here, and in this podcast, listen to Ben's response to the data, what he believes that it means and why, and how it compares to what he's seeing on the ground day-to-day.

 

 We look at what Salesforce managers are prioritising when making new hires, how many expect to expand their teams in the next 12 months, and which Salesforce-related Clouds/products are predicted to see the most growth, amongst other data points.

Nick Bryner on how to stand out as an entry-level Salesforce jobseeker

In today's episode we're thrilled to be joined by Nick Bryner, Head of Business Operations for Filevine, who is based in Utah, USA.

 

We discuss Nick's own background, how he first heard of Salesforce, and what his career trajectory has looked like since he first became a part of the Salesforce ecosystem.

 

Nick is now a hiring manager, and has recently made two hires for his team; one with Salesforce experience, and one without. He shares what he was looking for in applicants throughout the hiring process, and how entry-level applicants were able to stand out in a number of ways. He explains and gives tips on ways to shine both prior to applying and in the interview stage, and how he ascertained who showed the most potential.

 

Nick shares his views on personal branding, what the fundamental value is in the Salesforce Administrator role, and what makes him most excited about the platform.

Robin Emblem on transitioning from a career in recruitment to Salesforce Solution Architect

In today's episode we're thrilled to be joined by Robin Emblem, a Salesforce Solution Architect based in London in the UK. 

 

Robin has a really interesting background having previously worked in the Salesforce ecosystem in New Zealand for a time, and additionally coming from a non-technical background.

 

Robin previously held a successful career in recruitment, and having only joined the Salesforce ecosystem in the last few years, he has worked his way into positions of heightened responsibility quickly. He has previously performed roles as a Salesforce Admin, Functional Consultant and now Solution Architect, and shares with us how he has made the progression each time.

 

We discuss his transferable skills, a chance encounter which set him on the right track and how and why he has been given the opportunities that he has been.

 

Having made a lot of his career progress throughout the COVID period, we chat about remote work, how it has impacted how he most likes to work and the differences between the UK and the New Zealand Salesforce market.

 

Finally we touch on Robin's goals for the future, and what excites him the most about what's to come.

 

This episode could be particularly relevant for those listening who don't come from a technical background, or who are interested in how to move from a Functional Consultant role into that of a Solution Architect.

Eric Dreshfield on the potential of network and personal brand on your Salesforce career

In today's episode, we're joined by Salesforce MVP Hall of Famer and Product Evangelist, Eric Dreshfield, who is based in the USA.

 

Throughout the episode we discuss how he found his way into the Salesforce ecosystem, and the different roles that he's played over the years, as well as the not for profits that he's raised money for over the years.

 

Eric has been recognised as an MVP Hall of Famer in the Salesforce ecosystem and we talk about the reasons for this recognition, and what this has meant for him and his contributions.

 

Eric is passionate about personal branding, but this is something which has developed over the years and wasn't initially intentional. He explains how he first discovered the power of his reach and how others in the ecosystem have also embraced messaging unique to them and carved out a profile for themselves. He shares examples of how his personal brand has helped his career over the years, and the importance of a professional network. He gives tips on how a Salesforce newbie or somebody wanting to get more involved, can begin to build a network and brand intentionally; how to go about it and things to avoid.

 

Eric is an enthusiastic contributor despite having previously been more introverted, and he explains how he likes interact these days, and we discuss how a vastly larger ecosystem has impacted on becoming a part of the ecosystem. With the volume of Salesforce content available day to day, we ask which information he prioritises and whether he has embraced a more global approach.
